Buh-bye, fandom

Gah, I have just left the Kuroshitsuji LJ comm. I just couldn’t take the amazing ignorance shown by so many members anymore. “Wow, did you know that there was actually a man called Sebastien Michaelis? Who was into demons and such?” “Wow, how cool of Ciel to name him after that man!” Err.. I believe Ciel named Sebastian after his cat – however, the _manga-ka_ may have heard about the real Michaelis before… Ignorance, ignorance, ignorance – as was the case with some fans’ bright moment on the Jack the Ripper ark, previously blogged here.. Combine this stupidity with a constant wank over the anime from the “hardcore” fans – who all are reading the manga, mind you, and really detest the anime (mainly, from what I understand, because it’s got fillers, oh noes, and deviates from the manga storyline..!), and you’ve got a really weird (and immature!) fandom community. Says I.

Ah- that’s too bad, but I can understand why you left though. Ignorance is perhaps bliss for the ignorant party, but it sure is annoying for everyone else! Blaah… :)

  • The whole manga-vs.-anime debate happens with EVERY series, sadly. Some people just can’t appreciate each version for their strengths, and, instead, insist of comparing them.

For example, with Sailormoon, they complain that the anime cranked up the cute and took it to annoying levels with the SupersS season. Sure, it DID soften up the manga’s storyline… but it also explored the villains’ motives better. Neither version is better than the other, they’re different interpretations on the story. Unless the anime’s directed by the manga-ka, it’s bound the be that way.

This reminds me why I don’t spend much time discussing anime in comms. here. :/

ROFL. Seriously -____-; I just ignore them *passes over that entry* I was really thinking hard before joining all these LJ comms of all the series I love. And yeahh .. That’s why I hate the fandoms /: Like my ultimate favorite series in the world .. has a non-existent fandom (It’s an OLLLLDDDDD show, so the fans pretty much don’t exist anymore) :) Maybe that’s why it’s still my favorite? Because there are no fans to ruin it? xDD

  • I’ve had to leave a fandom because of the stupidity, immaturity, and general lameness of the majority of the fanbase too, so I feel your pain. >:F

Some fandoms have adult only communities, but they tend to be not as active. *headdesk*

  • I’ve never lasted long in any fandom community, there’s always at least one person who takes things to extreme levels. There are elitists, ignoramuses, and people who are just plain drama seekers. Hopefully you’ll still be able to enjoy the anime/manga.
