First Blythe – not really

I’ve been pondering whether to get a Blythe, but decided I don’t like any of the default ones enough to shell out the money for one (after all, you can get BJDs for that kind of money.. ;) ). Then recently, I found a “cheap” merchant on eBay ($70 a doll, Ashton Drake), and played with the thought of getting a doll to customize. However, before I got around to that, cutsiedotnet made me aware of the Blythe replicas called Color Changing Eyes dolls. I just won an auction this evening, and will have this girl coming my way soon:

- or a similar one, as they state that the outfit might not be the same as on the pic… I actually rather hope it will be either the one to the far right or the one to the left on this pic. (Edited a few hours later: the seller has promised to send me the red-and-black haired one..!) Now to look for eyes, rerooting tutorials (I don’t see myself doing that anytime soon, though), and prepare for some heavy faceup modifications! My can of Mr Super Clear flat is ready!

In other doll related news, the Moxies have made it to Norway! I am not getting any, they are way too expensive (US$35 and up for the basic ones). That’s Norwegian toy prices for you, yay for eBay..! I did score a Bratz doll today, though – I got a Cloe rock star for $17 (which is below 50% of her normal selling price here). Poor girl will have her clothes harvested and instruments taken from her, and be handed to a 5 year old tomorrow. ;)

Any chance you wouldn’t mind pointing me in the right direction for the $70 Takaras? I keep thinking I want a Blythe on hand, because most people ask me what the difference between Pullip and Blythe is. So if I had one I could pull out, it’d make my life so much easier xD xD

Wow you didn’t waste any time sis! xD
I’m glad you’ll finally get to customize one, and at a much more affordable price. :)

About Moxie..if you want one, I’m here for ya sis!
They range from 9.99 to 19.99 depending on what comes with the doll. Like the bike ones, are going to be on the higher end. ;)

Sure, here you go! They’re not Takaras, like I first stated, but Ashton Drakes. I hope it don’t matter much..!

Thank youuu! <3 I may take you up on the offer, I am primarily looking for a basic Sophina - I rather like her outfit and another laptop could always come in handy. No rush just yet, though, I will let you know when and if. :)

And yeah, I jumped right on it, didn’t I? Just got my paycheck, see.. ;)

Ahhh, sadly I’m looking for a Takara not an Ashton Drake. That’s a pretty normal price for the Drakes, but very low for a Takara. ^___^;; I personally prefer the facemolds (all of them) of the Takaras to the ADG or even the Kenner. I’m rather strange, I know xD

You’ll probably want to put her on a Blythe or Licca body, too, since that doll has a Bratz-like body (with feet). Once she’s finished, you’ll have a fabulous doll, I’m sure!

  • cutsiedotnet says:

    Sure thing, and XD!

  • Birgit says:

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Andrea! :) I am quite curious to see her in person – besides seeing a stock CCC once at a meet, I haven’t really any experience with real Blythes at all. Licca bodies are more popular than original Blythe bodies, right? So many dolls, so many things to learn, so many WIPs to finish..!

  • I like some of the Blythe replicas a lot! They’re really cute ^^

I hope I will be able to do something fun with her, I love looking at customized Blythe. Brainworm chips have been ordered! Off to browse faceup tutorials to check what to use (pastels, acrylics, etc..).
