Squeee! err.. Squall!

Squeee! err.. Squall!

One of my grail Pullips, isn’t she just gorgeous? Her hair is amazing, and her makeup so subtle and nice. To think that this was one of the very first Pullips to be released.. so perfect!

So, to say that things have really escalated since I got my first girl only a month and a half ago (!) is probably not exaggerating.. 8 girls in the house, another girl and a boy on their way, my third grail girl Oren will arrive in October, and I’ve pre-ordered a second boy for February next year. There’s even the chance that I’ll have a Blythe before long..! I inherited a small amount of money from my grandmother earlier this summer, and it was supposed to be spent on something of lasting value. I reckon my mother was thinking in the lines of a piece of furniture..! ;) These dolls, however, is definitely of lasting value. Taken good care of, they will always be worth the same or more than what their price was upon purchase, at least the ones with their stock outfit and wig. Even the ones that have been “robbed” of their stock doesn’t really lose much value. So yeah, I don’t feel too bad about the massive splurge, although my bank account doesn’t really agree with me right now – September will be an oatmeal month for sure! ;)

I’m still not quite out of the closet in regards to this new hobby of mine. Everyone I’ve told have been incredibly encouraging and accepting, except for my mother, of course. I’ll admit that when I sit in my hobby room (converted guest room), combing the dolls’ hair and trying on different outfits, I _do_ feel a little silly and as if I was a little girl again, doing little girls’ things. However, the grooming is not really the main part of this – it’s the pictures! The gorgeous pictures! And they _have_ to look their best, and above all: look the way I intended when I planned the picture. Not that I’ve made all that many planned pictures just yet; I’ll have to make a lightbox or some kind of interchangeable walls box for different dioramas. My neighbour has donated a three shelves / one drawer cupboard with semi-transparent doors – perfect for displaying the dolls, but I am not sure if it’ll be great for photography, light wise. And anyway, it’s not going to be mine just yet, she first has to afford the shelves she’s planning on replacing the cupboard with.

Bonus pic of my newest girl! What’s her name?

Another dog loving girl

  1. She’s pretty. :) I like her lips, and her little coffee cup. Your little photo tag/watermark is neat too. I noticed it on an earlier post, I think.

I think I might be kind of lucky. I can usually find something to like about most Pullips but there’s only a few that I actually really want. But.. I wonder if that goes away once you buy your first one and you end up wanting them all. XD

  2. Thanks, Sarah! :) I just can’t stop staring at this girl, she’s absolutely gorgeous. And yeah, there are lots of temptations, but after all there’s approximately 80 (!) different Pullips out there, so I guess my 10 girls (out of which two are the same model, Latte) isn’t too bad after all. There are people in the community who have them all, even the most limited releases, and to me that’s close to insanity – financially, at the least, but also: how will they be able to really value the prettiness of those dolls? I mean, I sense a problem with that myself. I took a few pics of my first girl, Lisa (Nomado) today – she’s not had her picture taken in nearly a month. I have changed her outfit a couple of times, though, and she’s been part of group shots, so it’s not like she’s been completely ignored, but yeah.

  3. Wow, those dolls are absolutely beautiful, I can totally understand why yo love them. And I’m loving the little coffee cup too! :) I should start collecting something too, instead of just sitting here or walking/photographing outside :D

  4. Aren’t they, though? I am totally smitten. You could start off with one and see if you like them – or you could drop the doll altogether and jump straight onto re-ment (miniatures). Check the awesome displays at the re-ment addicts flick group! Collecting is fun but time consuming, at least in the start – the hours I’ve spent on eBay lately… I won’t even try to add them up!

  5. Coffee Cup!!

OK – after years of working for Starbucks and generally being obsessed over coffee and anything related to coffee – Where did you find that cup!!
I so would love to get one for my Pullip – It is so correct – down to the little anti-spill plug!!

    And the search begins…….
    Thanks!

  7. Coffee!

Found them! Thanks for your help – Gina
