Squeee! err.. Squall!

One of my grail Pullips, isn’t she just gorgeous? Her hair is amazing, and her makeup so subtle and nice. To think that this was one of the very first Pullips to be released.. so perfect!

New girls

New girl

- and my first obitsu. Although not really demonstrated here, I love the way the hands can be posed compared to the limited range of the type3 bodies!

ALa (I believe it’s supposed to be typed like that, all sticky caps) is gorgeous. Perfect shade lip colour, not too dark, and lovely smokey eye makeup. Wonderful glossy acrylic-ish eyes, as opposed to most Pullips, who seem to have matte, painted eye chips. The hair is a bit troublesome, though – I have a Bratz comb which seemed to do an ok job untangling it, but it tangled up again in no time..!

Now for naming her..! I would’ve called her Keren had I not already named my first Latte that – I don’t think I will be renaming/swapping names. Hm… Edited: She’s Em, or Emily. I put the white fur wig on her, and there it was.

Finding her own style

The other girl wanted to take a moment in the spa after her long journey, she will be presented later tonight, I reckon! Oooh, the suspense. ;)

Snazzy new patterns book

Snazzy leather jacket

Today I received the pattern book “Doll Coordinate Recipe”, 5th issue. It’s awesome, it’s got loads of jacket patterns and some really neat dresses, and all kinds of tops and pants. Never mind that I haven’t touched my sewing machine in years (except for those jeans last week), and that all text is in Japanese.. :P By the looks of it, I might have to get other needles for my machine, because the seams are _really_ detailed and petite – even on the leather clothes. I’ve also got two Barbie clothes books from the library – the one I picked up yesterday is slightly better than the one with a Jane Fonda aerobic outfit, neon coloured sweatsuits and shoulder padded jackets (80s, much?)… There are several neat basic patterns in it and a few gorgeous knitted cardigans. I dropped by a sewing store too, to get some velcro for poor Latte’s fur wig, and ordered two pattern booklets while there – one with basic patterns and one with 50s style dresses and coats (waist belts and knee length, wide skirts). On with the sewing!

I’ve managed to slow down the eBaying, except for a few pairs of sneakers for both the Pullips and the Class Mates. I still visit Dolly Market several times a day, to check for clothes, wigs and perhaps even another doll (although the latter will _have_ to come to a pause now..!). What’s coolest about DM is that clothes are commonly sold as single items and not in sets, meaning I can pick only that jacket that I liked so much and not have to worry about the gross t-shirt and the meh pair of pants which originally came with that set.

Grail dolls

Latte getting to know her new neighbourhood

Even though the Pullips are all fairly similar looking, their faceup, eye colour, wig and stock outfit make them appear as different individuals. Some are made based on anime characters, some are based on fairy tales or childrens’ stories, some on celebrities, and some are just like you and me. It’s the natural looking ones which appeal the most to me, those with a subtle makeup and natural looking eyes. After having looked at the Pullip collection for a few weeks, I’ve found a few that I consider absolute favourites, and even one which I call my “grail” doll. That doll is Latte, a 2005 release with a stock outfit meant to mimic the whimsical style of the 80s. No shoulder pads or neon makeup, but the more artistic, bohemian look. Latte has had a slight rise in price, but is still affordable – just not the same month as five other dolls have been purchased..! However, when I came across Welly’s adoption post at the Dolly Market, for a re-wigged Latte in a different dress than her stock outfit, I just couldn’t let it pass. Luckily, she was happy to let me have her, and today she arrived! On the photo she’s just been unwrapped, and is sitting in the window sill taking a look at her new surroundings. I dug out a few of the McDonalds Dog Artlist dogs from my kids’ room, and this terrier seems to have found a permanent place with sweet Latte. :)

(I am also bidding on a stock Latte, MIB , but I suspect that my offer may be turned down. Crossing my fingers, but I won’t be heartbroken if it doesn’t happen at this time – a stock Latte _will_ come around sooner or later; I can manage the wait now that I’ve got her in “light” version! – and I got her, yay!! Twin Pullips ftw, lol..! And oatmeal for September…)

Grail Pullip

Every Pullip collector have a certain doll that they like better than all the other dolls. For me, that doll is Latte. Tonight, although having told myself to slow down with 5 dolls already purchased, I jumped at the opportunity to get my grail doll as user “Welly” at Dolly Market put her up for adoption.

Re-wigged, without her gorgeous stock outfit, but still: it was Latte, and for a reasonable price at that. Check the picture, how cute isn’t she, even with blonde hair? (Funny thing is, she’s got Aquel’s wig, meaning I will have “twin” Pullips when they both arrive!)

I called my partner and got his approval (and some money..), and paid for her earlier this evening. She will be sent from the UK, meaning it shouldn’t really take long before she’s here!

Now, absolutely NO MORE purchases in a good while..! Re-ment excepted, that is…
