Steampunk promo pics semi-released

Gotta love dealers who have a loose trigger.. ;) No information yet, estimated release date is July (according to the Groove blog). So, is the doll to the left a Dal, a Byul, or a long-haired boy… Isul? Thoughts? I don’t think the eye shape matches any of the current dolls.. :/

dollb’s BJD project closer to release

Dollb.com/.net has published pics today of their BJD in the making (earlier blogged about here), they’re already at the “finding the default faceup phase” and I have to say that I like what I see! I haven’t got any Lati yellow/PukiFee size dolls, but this dollb doll is really tempting! There’s so many nice outfits to be found for this size too, I’ve regretted choosing the Lati White size more than once.

Other than that, the New Year’s weekend means three days off work, and I hope to use those to take pics and lots of pics (it’s way too cold outside to take the kids sledding anyway). I’ve started decorating the dollhouse for the tinies, but it’s come to a slight pause as I make my mind up whether to keep the tinies as kids or if they should become chibi versions of young adults. Somehow, I reckon the scale will work better that way, as Lundby is smaller than the BJD scale – but it will be a challenge in regards of outfits, especially shoes!, and also their facial expressions. The Brownies are getting new faces anyway, but somehow I fret changing the adorable factory faceup of my Lati White Belle..!

One year in the doll hobby – BJD family growing

On August 1st I celebrated my first anniversary in the doll hobby – it was last year on that date, my first Pullip, a Nomado from PullipStyle, arrived. I already owned two Class Mate dolls, one from Jan 2006 and one from Nov 2007 (both purchased from Dollmore as cheap substitutes for the BJD that I longed for at the time), but none of those sparked a flame the same way Nomado did. Within a month of Nomado’s arrival, I already had three more girls; Chill, Aquel, and Latte.

Plugging gear for your girl!

My online sister cutsiedotnet has made the cutest socks ever, plus skirts and leg warmers – go check out her sales post at Shopadollic!

Other than that – tomorrow or on Thursday at the latest I will be paying for Carol! I also found a cute Little Leprotto on flickr, to keep Little Riletto company, plus I finally got around to order that basic Hujoo that I was supposed to get in January (I never realized that the confirmation email from hujoo.co.kr was my invoice, and they ended up cancelling my order..). The last doll purchase for April will be a SD bjd, a twin for my boy Shin. It’s hard when the monthly budget is spent weeks before the money is in..! >__<

Tomorrow I am sending off three dolls - Veritas, Craziia, Butler - to Kristin, a Norwegian bjd collector and "doll knitting guru", to tempt her into Pullip collecting because she’s curious to learn more about them and hopefully is looking into creating knitwear for them. She’s been selling her stuff on DoA and a Norwegian doll forum, and just recently set up an Etsy store. All of my bjds except for little Belle have sweaters made by Kristin; my Domuya Potpourri girl has several knitted hats, and my U-noa boy even has a pair of socks! My mother is a major knit freak, but she hasn’t got the patience for the finishing seaming of outfits that are that small (she loves knitting and hates seaming, and tiny doll outfits only makes that worse..!). Kristin is my saviour when it comes to getting modern, casual looking, knitwear – much of the knitted outfits for dolls are otherwise a little bit too.. I don’t know, dull? retro? kid-like? I’ve got hopes for a Pullip collection once Kristin has been persuaded by my girls’ (and boy’s) beauty!

Oh, and completely unrelated: I’ve finally decided for sure that Blythe are not for me. *whew* ;)
